This is how it all started…
The Corporate Dropout is the result of a two year hiatus from corporate America. A leap of faith with no real plan or savings. A leap based upon the idea that there is more to life than what we’ve been taught.
You see, back in 2021 I lost somebody very close to me. It was my “what the fuck am I doing with my life” moment. It was the moment that death became very real to me. Death was no longer some distant concept that only happened to unhealthy people.
I started asking very hard questions and studying history, philosophy, religion, spirituality, science, politics and just about everything else in between.
It became clear to me that my old lifestyle of setting very lofty goals and ambitious plans to become some super rich famous person were ridiculous. They were not only ridiculous, but also unhealthy and shitty.
I wasn’t enjoying the cold showers, sleep deprivation, and rigorous scheduling of my days. I actually hated it, but the idea “of making it” kept me going all throughout college and my career.
The Corporate Dropout is a test of a lifestyle much different than what corporate America preaches. A lifestyle in which relationships and meaning are much more important than success and power. One in which life isn’t something that needs to be dominated and controlled, but rather lived and experienced.
I will be posting “Daily Work Sessions” in which I write about topics that I have been learning. Topics and ideas that catch my attention. Lets see what happens.
