Work Session 3: Walking On a Dream
Today I stumbled upon a song that caught my attention while I was listening to music on Spotify. A song that many of you may know: “Walking on a Dream” by Empire of the Sun. Out of curiosity I clicked on the about section on their Spotify page.
Here is what popped up: “In fall 2008, Empire of the Sun released their debut album, Walking On A Dream (10th Anniversary Edition) which the musicians described as "a spiritual road movie." The album went platinum in Australia and the title track became a hit single across the globe”.
The phrase “spiritual road journey” piqued my interest so I went ahead and watched the music video. I have attached a link to the video if you’d like to watch it.
It seems as if many great artists have stepped outside of the box. A concept I described in my previous article. They have found their own unique voice and way of self expression. Most importantly perhaps, they are not scared to show it to the world.
The question then becomes how do you step outside of the box and find your own unique voice? This is a process that I am now beginning. I believe that I will find it by taking action rather than thinking about all of the different voices and personas that sound good to me. This is the theory behind my entire Substack.
This is a theory that I hope to prove with my work. A theory that will help others stop thinking and start taking action. A proof of concept that will help others have the confidence to start sharing their own work and finding their own unique voice. Through trial and error. Just like me.
As I continue my journey on Substack I want to thank you dear reader for taking the time to read my posts. I appreciate every single one of you. Especially those who subscribe, like and comment.
